Aliso and Woods canyons were an indian
area, and then part of the Moulton ranch
till it became the park.

|
At the enterance of the park is this little
sign pointing out all the different animals
that one might see on a ride.
07/20/02
|
From about May till October, don't be
surprised to see one of the millions of
rattle snakes in the park.
07/20/02
|
This is NOT a rattle snake, but a harmless
Garder snake. Still, when riding always keep
your eyes open for snakes.

|
From Top of the World, you get a great
panoramic view of L.A. and Orange counties
and the local mountain and urban blight.
07/20/02
|
This is a shot looking towards the beginning
of the park, from it's western most ridge.
West of this photo is the Pacific Ocean.

One of many beautiful view of Wood canyon.
The flat main trail runs up the middle of
this photo.
07/20/02
|
This is looking down on one of the hardest
climbs in the canyon, a trail called Mathis.
Worth a good sweat.
07/20/02
|
A view of Wood canyon from the top of the
Lynx trail.
07/20/02
|
The main trail running up Wood Canyon is a
relativly flat and easy trail. A good trial
for beginners.
07/20/02
|
2/3rd's up the main trail is a grove of
California live oak trees. Here I am
taking a break with my bike toy Mike.
07/20/02
|
At the end of the main trail is Cholla,
which is one of the steepest, but shortest
climbs in the park. A bike view.
07/20/02
|
Even though Cholla is not that long, it is
somewhat of a technical climb due to its
grade and slippery sand/hardpack soil.
07/20/02
|
I don't know who this girl is, but she kicked
ass going up Cholla. Going up Cholla on a
hard tail is not as easy as on a fully.
07/20/02
|
In this photo, you can see the sandy trail
of Cholla. In the summer, after 3 or 4
months without rain, the sand can get deep.
07/20/02
|
This photo was taken about 1/2 way up
Cholla, and shows a great view of Wood
canyon and local plant life.
07/20/02
|
One of the things I really like about Cholla
are the main switch backs, which are steep
and rocky. Rider is unknown.
07/20/02
|
At the top of Cholla, I took this picture
of myself and my bike. This was taken on a
ride I did one Febuary afternoon.
07/20/02
|
This is my shadow giving a peace out to all
of you looking at this stuff.
07/20/02
|
From the top of Cholla looking east toward
Saddleback mountain, you can see the Urban
Bright that is now Orange County.
07/20/02
|
In this photo, you can see an unknown rider
who has made it to the half way point of the
Mathis climb.
07/20/02
|
When I take pictures of Frank, they always
look great. When he takes one of me, I seem
to look goofy. Maybe it's just...
07/20/02
|
I took this picture from the hill on the
other side of the park enterance, looking
west to the ocean.
07/20/02
|
One of the things you never want to run into
is the local prickely pear cactus. Look
forward to hours of fun if you run into it!
